national navy UDT-SEAL museum

The project is an addition of approximately 20,000 square feet to the existing museum facility. The program includes a new exhibit hall, restaurant, administrative offices, conference room/hall, curator storage, and other ancillary spaces required to operate. The restaurant and conference spaces will be located on the east side for shared public and private use. The restaurant on the second floor will have a view of the beach with about 100 seats including some covered outdoor seating.

The design include new design elements to alter the existing facility so the entire museum will blend together more naturally with similar design features. Visibility is enhanced from the street creating prominence for vehicular traffic, bicyclists, and pedestrians. Awareness of the existing artifacts on the site plays a role in design the building and views to and from the building.
